Naomi Campbell: "Devastated" at the loss of Nelson Mandela

Mega Model Naomi Campbell has been expressing just how grief stricken she has been at the loss of her beloved 'Granddad',  Nelson Mandela.  The modeling mogul became one of Mr. Mandela's honorary 'Granddaughters after forming a close friendship with the South African civil rights icon back in the early 1990's.

Naomi posted this moving tribute on her Facebook page: "Nelson Mandela has stood as a figure of strength, hope, freedom, selflessness and love, and I join everyone across the world in mourning his passing. However, he was much more than just a figurehead to me - he was my mentor, my honorary grandfather, my Tata. Since meeting him in 1993, he's guided me and gave me a reason for being in the tough times of my life. He changed my perception of the world.
"It will take time to come to terms with his absence, but I know his energy and impact will forever be in the core of my spirit.
"My heart goes out to the entire Mandela family - Mama Graca, Mama Winnie, Zindzi, Malengani, Josina and the rest of the family."

FEATURED: NAOMI CAMPBELL

From Grace Jones, to Carla Campbell, to Nadine Willis,  Jamaica is known to produce some of the most stunning models in the world.  Few among them however have managed to attain the level of stardom that Mega-Model Naomi Campbell has.  Yes, we use the title 'Mega- Model'  because the word supermodel has become entirely to common for our liking and simply did not feel appropriate for a model that has reached the level of success Naomi has.  In the event you did not know, Naomi Campbell was born in London to a Jamaican mother. Though she was born overseas, she has been proud to acknowledge and embrace her Jamaican heritage.  Ms. Campbell is know frequent visits to the Island to spend time in her oceanfront three bedroom hideaway in Oracabessa.

International stylist Kerry of KerryManWoman Home recently shared this photo from a shoot she styled recently for designer Sequoia of ITES International.  Model Alysia Frances strutted her stuff wearing a black unitard  topped by a loose ethnic print caplet.  We should see plenty of caplet inspired style this Fall as the style has managed to make a comeback during the last two fashion seasons.  Our staff are on the hunt as we speak, for the perfect caplet.  We'll keep you updated!

The designer recieved rave reviews for his collection after the double launch both in Montego Bay and Kingston.  A design favorite has been the leather and patent leather 'Konz Sub' with demand for the lightweight, sleek, yet stylishly edgy  high-top sneaker.

KERRY ManWomanHome

Swim Print

As not only bloggers, but also in our capacity as branding and marketing professionals, there is no question about it, we love a great advertisement.  Any person in business recognized the importance of advertising in the effort to identify, make contact with and conveying your brand message.  The notion that you only have 'One chance to make a first impression...' is an ever present thought in the world of advertising, branding and marketing tends to ad even more pressure to making sure your message is right on target.

That's why we so loved this ad from Kerry ManWomanHome.  It grabs your attention with it's interesting presentations;  the print  and colors translation from the fabric to the background was a cleaver idea because it re-inforces the importance of the print.  The choice of such a strong, edgy model, combines with the choice of fabric print and pattern, slightly reminiscent of  of ancient Aztec-like designs, speaks of and educated, fun yet  sleekly sophisticated approach to design.
